a horror story, and a morality tale this story also includes finely detailed
portrayals of witchcraft and ceremonial magic.

artfully constructed, vivid and highly visual. Unexpected twists in the
denouement drive the story to its intense and unexpected ending. There are some tricks and the ending is
quite intense. Ross has also mastered the ability to involve the reader in the
deeper philosophical questions involved.
