HAND DELIVERED

Dear Ms. Dickinson;

Re: Complaint concerning prayers before meals/other religious observance at the Simi Valley Senior Center:

It is my belief and understanding that Simi Valley Senior Center uses taxpayer funding, and therefore prayers before meals/religious ceremonies in general are inappropriate, illegal, and against public policy (see legal references, page 2).

Not only do we live in the most religiously diverse country in the world, but Simi Valley itself is a community of not only of a remarkably variety of Christians, but also  non-theists, agnostics, Sikhs, Buddhists, Muslims, Jews and others.

I am thus requesting that the Simi Valley Senior Center cease and desist in prayers/religious observances.

Thank you in advance for your response to this concern.

Sincerely Yours,

John R. Guthrie
